Nuclear Technology Workshop
The Mechanical Engineering Power Department at Ain Shams University has coordinated this valuable crash course in Nuclear Technology in collaboration with the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute. We are delighted to offer this workshop to the general public from all universities and institutes interested in the topic on a first-come first served basis. The workshop will be held
Time: 4:00-7:00 pm
Dates: 14-16 April 2019
Location: Library Seminar Hall, 2nd Floor, Library Building, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University
The capacity of the hall is very limited and admission will be based on those who register below on a first-come first-served basis
The following courses will be delivered throughout the workshop
Non-destructive Testing of NPP's Pipelines and Equipment
Prof. Aleksandr Nakhabov
The main methods of NDT are considered (ultrasonic, radiography, eddy current, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant), foundations and practical application on the NPPs of Russian design (incl.automated systems).
Radiation Patterns
Prof. Aleksandr Ksenofontov
Radioactivity phenomena, radioactive decay, dosimetric quantities and units, classification of radionuclides in the environment, the radiocarbon dating method, radiation background. Problems. Penetration ability of radiation and shielding materials, radionuclide sources, some engineering shielding methods against ionizing radiations. Problems. Nuclear and radiological incidents and accidents, INES and examples of nuclear events (trans-Ural radioactive accidents, Chernobyl, Fukushima and others), analysis of the efficiency of the rehabilitative and protective measures. Problems.
Risk Assessment of Nuclear Facilities
Prof. Vladimir Kosterev
Methods of risk study. An event tree analysis. A fault tree analysis. Models of risk assessment. Types of uncertainty. Probabilistic models of risk assessment. Fuzzy models of risk assessment. Hybrid models of risk assessment.
