Training Description:
Group Project
Each group of 4-5 students will be required to model, design, implement a complete practical big-data analytics project from scratch. Students will put all the experience acquired from the program in this project, The project will be closely mentored by an industry expert in the field. Student will be evaluated based on this project.
- The training program aims at maximizing the students’ knowledge in the field of Big-Data analytics and data science, giving the skills required to develop a big-data analytics projects, prepare the data, select the tools, decide about the algorithms (analytics) that will be utilized, build the proto-type, get the recommendations that boost the business, and then operationalize the model.
- The program is a mixture of stand-up instruction, guided discussions, and group project used to deliver a practically-oriented learning outcome.
- The program is divided to classes and workshops in the following topics:
- Basic concepts of big-data and data science. (3 hours)
- Fundamentals of data cleansing and integration (data collection, duplication, outliers, missing data items, noisy data, standardization, … etc.) (4 hours)
- Analytics Methods: data clustering, classification, Association rules, Regression, Classification, Decision Tree … etc. (16 hours)
- Tools: R, Spark, Hadoop, HBase, Pig, Hive … etc. (14 Hours)
- Building analytics model. (4 hours)
- Typical hands-on group project mentored by experts (15 hours)
- Operationalize the model (4 hours)
