Renewable Energy Workshop

The course spans more than 12 hours over 3 days.
The workshop will be held starting 24/7/16 for 2 weeks, every Sun & Tue 9:00-13:00
Location: iHub Workshop, Faculty of Engineering, ASU
​CHEP Training Credit: 1 week
Cost: 250 EGP (or proof of CHEP training payment)

Workshop Objective:
To provide an introduction to renewable energy resources’ theory and applications.
 
Course description:
Solar energy - Solar radiation - Solar technologies - Advantages and disadvantages - Solar collectors - Experiment.
Wind energy – Wind data - Vertical-axis Wind turbines – Horizontal-axis wind turbines - Advantages and disadvantages - Experiment.
Biomass Energy - Syngas production - Gasification - Types of Gasifiers Biogas production - Biodiesel production - Biogasoline production

    Estimation of wind power
    Airfoil theory
    Vertical-axis wind-turbines: Savonius and Darriews
    Horizontal-axis wind turbines.

    Gasifier performance and control
    Biogas production
