Objective:
The main objective of the summer training is to introduce the industrial materials to the student and let him to study the mechanical and physical properties of the materials. The training will be in three stages.
  1. Metallic materials.
The student will study the mechanical and physical properties of steel,    copper and aluminum samples. The effect of manufacturing processes (rolling, forging, machining, welding and casting) on the mechanical properties of metals will be studied.

  2. Composite materials:
The student will participate in producing composite materials such as sandwich panels and polymeric matrix composites, mechanical, physical and chemical tests will be carried out on the sample.

  3. Polymeric samples:
Student will produce the polymeric samples by using injection machine and extrusion machine. Mechanical characterization for the polymeric samples will be made by the students.
For all materials type the student will study the standards to make tests according to the international code.
The preparation of the samples will be prepared in metal forming lab and poly lab while, the tests will be made in forming lab, materials lab and poly lab.

Prerequisites:
CHEP MANF/MCT/MATL Sophomores or 2nd year Mechanical Mainstream undergrads that passed MDP 132

Max class size: 20
