What is it?ICC is an iHub competition in which student teams from across Egypt build, program and race an intelligent model car around a track. The fastest car to autonomously complete the "challenging death track" avoiding obstacles and without derailing wins the race.
This challenge offers a collaborative, competitive and hands-on way for students to learn about embedded systems engineering and how to apply it in a real-world application. The design of the intelligent car requires embedded software programming and basic circuit creation. Teams will include two students that will build and program an intelligent car, that can use any mechanical or electrical parts as long as they only use TIVA C development boards as the microcontroller board. Sensors used may include but not limited to ultrasonic sensors and cameras. Teams can use ready toy car chassis or build their own, as long as they are within the allowed car dimensions (28cm x13cm). |
When is it?The competition starts 1/7/2017, and teams can start developing their intelligent cars, building all kind of algorithms to autonomously drive, steer, maneuver, avoid obstacles and reach the final destination in the fastest most efficient way.
Teams will check in with us again on 16/9/2017 to schedule their evaluation slot. Teams will then bring their intelligent cars on Friday 29/9/2017 to put their innovative car on the death track and compete in the final race. |
Who is it for? This competition is open to all students from all disciplines in accredited Egyptian universities that want to innovate, challenge themselves and apply what they know and learn. The most suitable disciplines are computer engineering, electronic engineering mechatronics engineering and computer science.

Where will it be held?Teams are welcome to work from anywhere, while they are developing their cars. They will then meet to let their car maneuver through the death track in the final race on Friday 29/9/2017 on the 2nd floor north corridor of the main building at the Ain Shams University - Engineering Campus at Abdu Pasha Sq, Abbaseya, Cairo.
