Autotronics Group
Project Scope:
This project aims at developing a prototype for an Autonomous Vehicle (AV). The project is expected to a scaled version of a real vehicle. The AV is expected to be capable of navigating an outdoor environment autonomously, with perception of the surrounding environment It is also expected to utilize this project to go from point A to point B autonomously, and at same time consider the pedestrians as well other vehicles. Project Team: A team of 6-10 members is expected to be assembled from multiple disciplines to be able to fully implement the above mentioned scope within a specific duration (4 months). The team is expected to have the following skills: Mechanical Design: The main task in this project which focuses on designing the AV which is capable to safely navigate in the outdoor environment, with suspension system, etc. This team is expected to design, implement and test the mechanical body of the AV. System Modeling and Control: In order to be able to control the AV and make sure that it is fully understood at any time instant, a full model for the vehicle is to be developed (mathematical model), considering both kinematical and dynamical models. Embedded Software: At the end of the day, the developed algorithms will be implemented on an on-board platform to execute the desired tasks. All the developed algorithms will have to be transformed to embedded version to their target platform. Algorithms and Software: The AV project involves various codes development to achieve multiple tasks, all these require a highly skilled software development team to be able to develop this in the least time and computational requirements. Circuits and Electronics: The project involves various parts that need to be interconnected. Some are power components while others are control ones. The management and control of such circuits fall under the umbrella of this team. Computer Vision: One of the main sensors to be used in the AV is a camera. Different types of cameras exist, and can be used for different tasks. The computer vision team handles this part, in which the development of algorithms that can make use of the cameras input is their main focus. The AV Project v1.0 is a highly challenging project that requires the integration of highly skilled multi-discipline team members to achieve the expected outcomes of the project. |
