Instructor
Registration Status
[Back to the iAcademy Technology Track]
The course spans more than 72 hours over 9 weeks (3 days/week) starting 25/07/2015
Location: Manufacturing Workshops, Faculty of Engineering
Dr. Yomna Sadek
Class FULL
Course Description:
The objective of this activity is to manufacture some mechanisms that are studied in the theory of machines course of the second year of mechanical engineering. This will be used by the lecturers of the course during teaching to help the students understand the mechanisms. In this activity, students should survey the mechanisms that are under study in the course of the “theory of machines”. They should select the mechanisms that can be manufactured in the workshop of the faculty. They should study those mechanisms; prepare design drawings, and working drawings. Then, they should select the required raw material, and the required manufacturing processes. Manufacturing should  be carried inside the workshops of the faculty. Finally, the students should assemble the components to the final mechanisms.

Objectives
By the end of this project, the student should be able to:
  • Design simple mechanisms and their components
  • Select raw materials for a product
  • Develop process charts for a product
  • Assemble a mechanism.

Time Plan
  • 2 contact hours / week : with staff supervision
  • 4 hours / week : field work (team work designs / buying material / manufacturing components)
  • 2 hours / week: student working on his own
