iGP'20 Juniors
iGP is an interdisciplinary graduation project program that’s held annually. It unites the efforts spent on different stand-alone graduation projects from different disciplines towards one common product.
Joining iGP Juniors gives you the chance to assist the senior students working on their graduation project. To be a part of iGP Juniors, you must fill the application form below, then the top applicants will be interviewed by the senior students to be chosen for joining iGP teams. iGP Juniors will be prioritized during iGP next year. About iGP iGP 2020 iGP'20 Juniors Projects: A) Hand Pose Estimation This project aims to define and implement a new system that performs well in hand pose estimation or even competes with current SOTA (state of the art), using deep learning and computer vision and with the help of the latest research advances in the field. The project can be visualized as a hierarchy consisting of two main modules: Detection and Pose Estimation. Each of the two modules contains two submodules. For the Detection module the two submodules are: First Shot Detection and Long Shot Detection. As for the Pose Estimation Module, the two submodules are: Accurate Pose Estimation and Fast Pose Estimation. Each of the 4 submodules has its own challenges and research. Apart from these two modules, we have a third module namely the visualization module in which we are going to visualize the hands in an AR (Augmented Reality) or a VR (Virtual Reality) environment. B) Architecture & Urban Planning of a Smart and Sustainable City The Smart City project’s vision to build a city that is smart, sustainable, low cost, and innovative. This project opens the gate for all the disciplines to get to know more about each others before facing the practical life which is a great value added to the graduation project. The project is a revolution in the construction technologies which will lead to reduction in the cost and the time of the construction process in a great way. This project will use existing technologies in a smart way as well as new construction materials based on the local materials from the site is the main methodology, in addition to the generative and parametric design methodologies. The project aims to avoid informal settlements by planning a mixed-use development where all services are accessible, and all housing is affordable. C) Solar-Powered Air Conditioner Our project aims to boost a conventional AC's efficiency by building a VFD (variable frequency drive) to reduce power consumption by using PWM sending signals to the inverter gates, so the compressor can be frequency controlled to use less power by adjusting its speed based on thermal load feedback. |
