Structural Modeling and Design using CSI Software Workshop

iHub delightedly announcing the launching of Structural Modeling and Design usg CSI Software workshop introduced by Eng. Hassan Bedeir

This Workshop Aims to 

  • ​Introduce the principles of structural modeling using FE software   
  • Enable the understanding of proper modeling basics.
  • Expose the students to different techniques of 2D and 3D modeling of Reinforced Concrete and Steel structures.
  • Present possible sources of modeling errors and methods to avoid them.
  • Introduce the methods of seismic analysis.
  • Explain methods of design using CSI software.
  • Allow the students to model and design a full RC structure.

Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding

  1. ​Understand the concept of FE analysis.
  2. Comprehend the basics of proper structural modeling.
  3. Identify sources of error in FE models.
  4. Understand the basics of seismic analysis.

Intellectual Skills


  1. ​​​​Generate a structural model for a full Reinforced Concrete / Structural Steel building.
  2. Utilize CSI software packages with efficiency.
  3. Design all structural components of a building using CSI software package. 

Professional and Practical Skills

  1. Interpret the current Egyptian Code limits for loads on structures and their modeling.
  2. Interpret the methods of seismic analysis of structures according to various international codes.

General and Transferable Skills

  1. Engage in lifelong learning of various FE software.
  2. Communicate the knowledge acquired in class effectively.  

Duration

40 contact hours (10 sessions , 4 hours per session)
  • Each session will have 20 - 30 minutes for the students to apply the explained material.
  • Days: Saturday & Monday & Wednesday.
  • Starting Date: Saturday     08/09/2018 
  • Closing Date: Saturday      29/09/2018

Fees

CHEP Training Credit: 4  weeks
Cost: Two Credit Hours

To confirm your reservation, visit iHub office, faculty of Engineering, ASU, CHEP building, Third Floor, everyday from 12.00 : 02.00 except on Friday and Saturday.​​

Eligible Students

  • For Mainstream : Students who passed the third year in civil engineering.
  • For Credit : Students who finished concrete design  (II) and steel design (I).

Required Software 

  • AutoCAD (v. 2010 or later)
  • SAP2000 (v.14.0.0 or later)
  • SAFE (v.12.0.0 or later)
  • ETABS (v.2013 or later)

Certificates

Committed participants would gain certificates of completion from iHub by the end of this workshop.

Note: Students shall get their laptops
